 The Benecko village is situated in western Giant Mountain. Its main advantage compared to Harrachov, Špindlerův Mlýn or Pec pod Sněžkou (which are situated in the valley) is situation of the center on the apex of Giant Mountain.

 Southwest orientation provides a lot of sunshine in bright sunny days and streaming of the wind get off the air pollution. Slopes, forests and green fields offer outstanding possibilities to skiing, hiking, picking of the berries and last but not least to recreation.



 Two thirds of the village is situated in the third zone of Giant Mountain national park. it makes Benecko very useful place for hiking on the edges of Giant Mountain. Visitors can admire beautiful views to the countryside or wander through the whole village. They can also visit the nearest town Jilemnice or Vrchlabí.

 The village has at present 1652 hectares and it consists of 4 cadastral territories of former villages Horní Štěpanice, Dolní Štěpanice, Benecko und Mrklov which have got together in 1960 in one department.
